TransAtlantic Acoustic Show

The TransAtlantic Acoustic Show was broadcast from late 2005 through 2011.

Sam and I were passionate about the music we played, and I think it shows. We both participated in the online indie/unsigned community as musicians. We knew where to look for music that was not being actively promoted through the usual channels.

If you are a previous listener looking for the show archives,  you can scroll on down to the bottom of the page and grab whatever you fancy. If you have never heard the show, you can listen to a few random selections in the player below. In either case…enjoy!

Be forewarned!  This is a huge download with almost a gig of music.  We did 32 shows in 2006, when Sam and I both had ample time to devote to it.  He was still a young student and I spent a great deal of the year “between jobs”, as they say.  We were doing VERY well in the podcast rankings on iTunes, which meant that some really fabulous musicians were approaching us to play their music.

We managed to put out 19 shows in 2007.  As always, the music was great, although I no longer had as much time to find musicians for the show.  The style of music in the shows became increasingly contemporary because I always had a very difficult time convincing musicians who played in a more traditional style to take part.

Sam and I both became much busier people in 2008.  Although our enthusiasm for the music has never faded, our ability to get together for shows decreased sharply.  For my part, I simply no longer had the time or energy to find the terrific singer/songwriters and bands we needed to fill the shows. Sam got married, and then became a father, with all the attendant wonderful but time-consuming consequences. By 2011, I finally realized it was just time to call it quits on the show. Although I promised a final episode, it never came to pass.

This package includes the five shows we completed while I was still a DJ at SongPlanet.com.  Sam continued to DJ live there for a year or so, but I left my role  (which included  DJing live five nights a week, two podcasts, and technical support help desk for the site) to pursue my interests in my own way.  The shows definitely have their rough spots and technical low points,  but they also have their high points.  If you are a raging fan of the shows, you may enjoy our rough beginnings.

You can still hear some fine internet radio at SongPlanet.com, and I will always be grateful to my old boss, Christian “Axe” McCarty, for giving me my start as a DJ.
